ZimUzo is strategic, pragmatic, and globally aware. Our projects target addressing specific needs locally through pragmatic education, providing poor children in countries in West Africa and South East Asia with elementary and secondary education, and equipping people in the United States who are either entering the job market for the first time or out of work and seeking re-entry into the job market with skills to embark on new professions in IT through hands-on training, internship, mentoring, certitification, interview prep, and job hunting. Here are some of our past and current global initiatives:
NIGERIA
As part of its community development and school enrichment programs, ZimUzo has engaged in various campaigns designed to address community health and education in the Mmaku community in Eastern Nigeria. From public health initiatives targeting the curbing of COVID-19 and water-borne diseases to educational campaigns aimed at preventing an emerging epidemic of substance abuse among youths in rural communities in Nigeria to working to construct a computer lab to assist the next generation of STEM learners in these communities--ZimUzo has operated with the youth and their surrounding community at the forefront of their initiatives.
In 2021, in this same community, ZimUzo donated medical devices for use in diagnosing, preventing, treating, and managing chronic medical conditions and diseases, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, etc., and collecting vital signs. The donations also included a power generator, a computer, and electronic medical record system for managing patients’ medical records to help physicians build patient health profiles and to aid in diagnosis and treatment. ZimUzo continues to monitor the operations of this health center, as it is the closest source of health care for many in this community.
PAKISTAN
ZimUzo boasts a partnership since 2010 with HIS MISSION INTERNATIONAL, a local organization in Faisalabad, Pakistan, and runs the Hope Center School and Orphanage in Faisalabad, Pakistan.
In 2010, during the aftermath of the devastating flood in Faisalabad, Pakistan, ZimUzo, under the HisVirtues inititaive, partnered with the HIS MISSION INTERNATIONAL in an attempt to establish a clothing line to provide employment to the local community and raise funds for the Hope Center orphanage.
In 2021, ZimUzo provided COVID-19 education initiatives along with COVID-19 masks to this community. In 2022, during the aftermath of yet another devastating flood Faisalabad, Pakistan, ZimUzo partnered with Pastor Maqbool Bashir and the Hope Children Center to finance the distribution of specially-crafted relief packages to 543 families.
In 2024, ZimUzo continued its annual winter coat drive for the benefit of the street and orphanage children care for at the Hope Center School and Orphanage and partnered with the center to raise funds to build a shelter for the street children and rescue those of the children enslaved in the brick kilns.
